The German law which gives priority to renewable energy – the Renewable Energy Law (EEG) - was adopted against the backdrop of climate and environmental protection in order to promote the sustainable development of energy supply, i.e. to conserve fossil fuels on the one hand, and to further develop technology for generating electricity from renewable resources on the other hand. In order to increase the share of renewable energy in the electricity supply, the Renewable Energy Law (EEG) regulates the prioritizeded storage of electricity from renewable resources, such as, for example, photovoltaic facilities, wind energy and biomass.
